WHAT'S A DISPLAY PHONE?

A display phone is a phone that has a glass or plastic "window" (screen) --- much like a hand-held calculator ---  that electronically displays words and numbers such as time, date, phone number being dialed, extension calling you, etc.  A display can be as small as 1/2" x 2" and as large as 4" x 4". Here's an example of a non-display and a display phone:

Partner MLS 12 Telephone

Without a display. Is either a standard or speaker phone.

Partner MLS 18D Telephone

With a display. Note dark screen at top of phone.

There are two kinds of displays: LED and LCD. LED  is an older technology in which the characters are made up of small blocks of light, usually red or green. In an LCD, the display's background is light grey and the characters show up as very dark print.
